Watco Butcher Block oil & finish by Rustoleum

Looking for a food safe finish that will not need to be refinished in the near future? Watco Butcher Block oil & finish by Rustoleum is a good one for you. This coating is oil based so much like bare mineral oil it soaks in the difference is Watco oil dries on top to form a much harder finish. I used the Watco on a couple cutting boards and they turned out beautifully, shining like new Italian marble.

The process is so simple any DIY can do it. Wipe the wood off with a damp rag and allow the wood to dry. Take a clean lint free rag and apply the Watco oil sparingly wiping off an excess that may be left behind. Allow the board to dry over night and that's it. For a longer lasting coat or a well used area lightly sand with 400 Grit sandpaper in between coats and re apply.

One advantage of the Watco Butcher Block oil & finish over traditional mineral oil is it can be used on multiple surfaces due to its hardening properties. I have applied it to both a butcher block counter top and the wood handle on some knives. Both were brought back to life and looked like they were new from the store again.
